A Testomonial On: Feeling Good

If you are comfortable in heat and being in a room with a bunch of sweaty, heavy-breathing people you NEED to try hot yoga.

I just went for the first time since my surgery and it was the best. A godsend. Exactly what I needed.

I went to hot yoga for the first time this past winter. I was feeling my very worst but decided to give it a try. I was sold when the instructor had us do a move thought to improve digestion. I don’t know about the rest of you but I have found that Crohn’s makes me very tense. I believe this is a combination of anxiety, stress and a response to chronic discomfort. The heat, focused breathing and slow-paced stretching really helped to loosen me up. It has extended into my every day life and I often think about my posture and my breathing at school and work. Sometimes in the morning or before bed if I am feeling tight I do a couple of my favourite positions for a few minutes.

An added bonus is that you need to be well hydrated before you go so I am motivated to drink way more water than I normally do.

We will each discover what makes us feel good and in particular, what exercise is best for us. Obviously when everything aches and we just feel generally crappy, exercise is the last thing on our mind. But exercise is so important no matter our condition and if we can just drag our butts out of bed and get it moving, I guarantee we’ll all feel better.

Exercise=endorphins=natural and wonderful high.
