This is the Safeway receipt for the first round of Humira we picked up. It was 6 pens (or 3 boxes). And the total was $4, 819.81! I am so, so, so, so blessed to have parents with jobs that offer incredible drug plans. So lucky to live in Canada where health care is actually affordable. The Air Miles are pretty sweet too. BUT even with my parents 80% drug coverage, the bill still would have cost them over $300.00 had Abbott, the maker of Humira, not offered to cover the last 20%. I honestly have no idea how Americans (or people living in other areas that don’t have great health care) afford their medication. Or surgery. Or any of the medical procedures one may need. Respect.
